Year 6 Class Assembly

On Monday 20th November Year 6 had their team assembly. We invited our family along and enjoyed sharing our learning from this term.
Some children read out poems which we have been writing in English about the contents of an evacuees suitcase. We also shared newspaper stories we wrote about The Blitz and played a video recording to the audience of a poem we learnt!

VE Day Celebrations at Oreston!

We have been learning about VE Day in History and thought it would be a great idea to recreate a VE Day street party for our learning challenge!

We invited our family, friends and members of the local community to come along and join in the celebrations on Wednesday 22nd of November!

We provided home baked refreshments (lavender biscuits, fruit cake and carrot scones), displayed our learning from this term including WW2 teddies which we made in DT, newspaper reports, poems and our Art work based on Henry Moore. We also hung bunting across the hall and played music from the 1940`s.

Many members of the community were alive during WW2 and were able to retell stories and memories of their experiences. We really enjoyed sitting and listening to these stories!
